What it does
Wyrd is an MCP server that exposes a single folder of Markdown files to AI clients in read-only mode, with strict path-containment to prevent access outside the granted directory. It is for users who want to share a folder of notes with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or other AI clients while maintaining control over exactly what is accessible.
- Grant an AI client read-only access to a folder of personal notes or documentation without exposing files outside that folder.
- Organize notes in a Mage vault structure (with Arc/ and Mage/ layers) and let the AI client read them while understanding the vault organization.
- Share a subfolder with an AI client while ensuring hidden files, environment files, or other sensitive content in parent directories remain inaccessible.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| read_file | Reads and returns the contents of a file within the granted folder. |
| list_directory | Lists files and directories within the granted folder. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
