What it does

FilmMap MCP server provides access to 15,368 filming locations across 166 countries and 13,312 films, series, video games, anime and manga recorded at or set in them. The data comes from Wikidata and is available read-only via a hosted HTTP endpoint. It is intended for developers building applications that need to query where productions were filmed or what was made at specific locations.

  • Look up a film or series title to find all the real-world locations where it was shot, with coordinates and evidence sources.
  • Search for a place and discover all films, series, games, anime and manga that were filmed or set there, ranked by relevance.
  • Find filming locations near a geographic coordinate within a specified radius to explore what productions used nearby areas.

Before you enable it

An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
