What it does
ClipKit is an MCP server that lets AI agents author and render video from structured data (JSON timelines). Agents describe video as a ClipKit Protocol document and get back an MP4 file, with support for local rendering or cloud GPU acceleration.
- Generate video programmatically from structured descriptions without using a timeline editor.
- Let AI agents create video content by composing JSON documents with clips, effects, and timing.
- Render video with GPU acceleration (ProRes, AV1, transparency) via the hosted cloud service.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| build_clipkit_video | Author a ClipKit Protocol document (JSON timeline) with video clips, effects, and composition. |
| validate_clipkit_source | Validate a ClipKit Protocol document and receive plain-language summaries of any issues. |
| preview_clipkit_video | Preview a ClipKit video in the browser before rendering. |
| render_clipkit_video | Render a ClipKit Protocol document to an MP4 file, either locally or on the hosted service. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
