What it does
OhMyWind exposes sailing passage planning tools that work with any MCP-capable assistant. Users ask in plain language to get per-leg ETAs, complexity scores, and passage plans anywhere in the world, with high-precision tide and current data on the French Atlantic coast.
- Ask your assistant to plan a sailing passage between two ports and receive timing, difficulty assessment, and an interactive map in supported clients.
- Query wind and sea conditions at a specific location and time to check whether conditions are suitable for sailing.
- Compare multiple departure windows over a 14-day range to find the calmest weather window for a passage.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| list_boat_archetypes | Returns seven boat archetypes with performance characteristics so the assistant can map a user's boat type to a performance model. |
| get_marine_forecast | Retrieves wind and sea conditions around a point or region using global models (ECMWF, GFS) or regional models like AROME over France. |
| plan_passage | Computes a complete sailing passage plan with per-leg timing, a 1–5 complexity score, and a deep-link to the full plan; supports comparing hourly departures up |
| read_me | Returns OhMyWind's calculation methodology for transparency when users ask how results are computed. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
