What it does
This server converts technical drawings between metric and imperial units, handling dimensions, tolerances, ISO fits, threads, and surface roughness. It processes PDF drawings with text layers, extracting values and producing converted copies with all callouts updated. It is for engineers and manufacturers working with technical documentation across different unit systems.
- Convert a metric drawing PDF to imperial by extracting all dimensions and replacing them with their inch equivalents, producing a new PDF ready for shop-floor use.
- Look up equivalent thread sizes between ISO metric and Unified (UNC) standards to find the nearest interchangeable match.
- Convert individual engineering callouts like 'Ø30 H7' or 'M8' or 'Ra 1.6' to their imperial counterparts without manual calculation.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| convert_value | Converts a single engineering value (length, tolerance, GD&T, surface roughness, weight, or thread) with shop-floor precision rounding and returns exact and dis |
| convert_text | Converts a printed callout string between metric and imperial while preserving notation format. |
| lookup_thread | Provides ISO metric to Unified (UNC) thread cross-reference with major diameters and pitch/TPI, or returns full M2–M30 chart if no designation is specified. |
| extract_drawing_text | Reads text layer from a PDF drawing and returns indexed tokens with their positions, rotation, and a heuristic estimate of the drawing's unit system. |
| convert_drawing_pdf | Produces a converted copy of a PDF with recognized values stamped over the original callouts at matched size and rotation. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
