Streams MCP server
What it does
DBConvert Streams exposes read-only SQL access to PostgreSQL, MySQL, S3 buckets, and local data files (Parquet, CSV, JSON) through an MCP server. It allows developers to query across multiple data sources in a single SQL statement and integrate live database schemas and data into AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and VS Code.
- Run a federated SQL query that joins a PostgreSQL table with data from a Parquet file and an S3 bucket in one statement.
- Connect Claude or Cursor to inspect live database schemas and sample data while writing queries or debugging data migrations.
- Query multiple databases and file sources simultaneously without switching between tools.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| read_postgres | Query tables from a connected PostgreSQL database. |
| read_mysql | Query tables from a connected MySQL database. |
| read_parquet | Query Parquet files from local folders or S3. |
| read_csv | Query CSV files from local folders. |
| read_json | Query JSON files from local folders. |
| read_s3 | Query files stored in S3 buckets. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
