What it does
Testiv is a local-first visual regression testing server for AI agents and developers. It captures screenshots paired with DOM snapshots to distinguish real UI changes from render noise, generates diffs with element-level attribution, and produces machine-readable JSON reports—all without requiring an account or API key.
- A team integrates visual regression testing into CI without managing baselines on a server, since all baselines live in git and diffs are computed entirely locally.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| verdicts | Returns visual test results including per-snapshot diff status, DOM change summaries, and noise detection hints as machine-readable JSON. |
| diff | Generates visual diff images comparing current screenshots to baselines, with bounding boxes showing changed regions and hatched masks for excluded areas. |
| explain_snapshot | Provides layered evidence about what changed in a snapshot (selector shifts, whole-page movement detection, style-only changes) for an AI agent to compose a nar |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
