What it does
An MCP server that extracts sections from SEC 10-K and 10-Q filings as clean text, diffs them across filing periods, and verifies numeric claims against as-filed XBRL data. It handles amendment detection and inconsistent EDGAR HTML layouts. Aimed at developers and AI agents that need structured, auditable access to US public company filings without writing their own EDGAR parser.
- Extract a specific section (e.g., Risk Factors or MD&A) from a 10-K or 10-Q as plain text for analysis.
- Compare the same filing section across two years to identify sentence-level changes in disclosures.
- Check whether a numeric claim about a company's financials matches the as-filed XBRL data.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| lookup_company | Resolves a ticker or company name to its CIK, exchange, SIC code, and fiscal year end. Free to call. |
| recent_filings | Returns a list of past filings for a company with accession numbers and dates. |
| latest_filings | Returns a live market-wide feed of recent filings including 8-K item codes. |
| filing_section | Extracts one named item (e.g., Item 1A, Item 7) from a 10-K or 10-Q as clean text. |
| compare_filings | Produces a sentence-level diff of a single filing section across two specified filings. |
| verify_financial_claim | Checks a numeric claim against the as-filed XBRL data for that filing. |
| filing_events | Decodes 8-K filings into structured events organized by item code. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
