What it does
Orla is a CLI tool and MCP server for reading and recording personal, family, and business transactions in fiat and crypto accounts. It connects via OAuth and exposes accounting operations without payment capabilities, designed for use by individuals managing their own books.
- List and search transactions across accounts with date and keyword filters, then export results to CSV for analysis or record-keeping.
- Record new transactions (income, expenses, transfers) with account, amount, date, payee and notes to keep books current from the command line.
- Connect accounting data to Claude or other MCP clients as a read-only source for bookkeeping queries and reports.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| login | Authenticate this machine via OAuth code flow with PKCE and store the session. |
| logout | Clear the stored session and token from the system keychain or config directory. |
| whoami | Return which connection this is and which spaces it can access. |
| spaces | List all spaces (books) this connection can reach. |
| use | Set a space as the default for subsequent commands. |
| accounts | List accounts in the current space. |
| export | Output transactions as CSV rows to stdout. |
| tools | List which tools this connection was authorized to use. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
