What it does
NewsAI is a remote MCP server that provides AI agents with structured access to real-time news across 7 regions and multiple languages. It exposes three tools covering top headlines, predefined category search, and custom topic search with optional recency filtering. It is intended for agent workflows such as news briefing, market monitoring, and live RAG pipelines.
- Fetch top headlines for a specific region to give an agent situational awareness of current events.
- Search news by a predefined category (e.g., TECHNOLOGY or BUSINESS) in a chosen region and language for stable, recurring agent workflows.
- Retrieve articles on any custom keyword or topic within a configurable time window for market intelligence or competitor tracking.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| fetch_news_headlines | Returns the latest top headlines for a specified region, with an optional language parameter. |
| search_news_predefined_category | Fetches news articles for a fixed category (TECHNOLOGY, BUSINESS, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS, or WORLD) with optional region, language, and result-count controls. |
| search_news_for_any_category | Retrieves news articles for any user-supplied keyword or topic, with optional region, language, result count, and recency window (last_n_hours). |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
