What it does
MetaEngine exposes code generation as MCP tools, converting OpenAPI, GraphQL, Protobuf, and SQL specifications into typed clients and models across 11 languages and 10 client frameworks. For developers building polyglot systems where specifications are the source of truth, this server regenerates typed code from spec changes within an agent loop.
- Regenerate a typed HTTP client in multiple languages when an OpenAPI document is updated
- Generate type-safe model classes from SQL table definitions without manual mapping
- Convert a GraphQL schema into typed query clients for different JavaScript frameworks
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| generate_openapi | Generate a typed HTTP client from an OpenAPI 3.x document for one of 10 frameworks |
| generate_graphql | Generate a typed GraphQL client from an SDL schema for one of 10 frameworks |
| generate_protobuf | Generate a typed client from Protocol Buffers definitions for one of 10 frameworks |
| generate_sql | Generate typed model classes from SQL DDL statements in one of 11 languages |
| generate_code | Generate arbitrary type definitions (classes, interfaces, enums, generics) from a structured spec in one of 11 languages |
| load_spec_from_file | Run a generation spec from disk to keep multi-file architectures version-controlled and reduce context usage |
| metaengine_initialize | Prime the agent with patterns, examples, and language-specific rules before first use |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
