What it does
Medplum is a backend server that hosts healthcare data in a FHIR-compliant repository. This MCP server exposes the Medplum API, allowing Claude to securely access and manage FHIR healthcare data stored in Medplum instances.
- Query and retrieve FHIR resources like patients, observations, and medications from a Medplum CDR.
- Create or update patient records and clinical data through FHIR-based API calls.
- Manage user authentication and permissions for healthcare applications using OAuth and SMART-on-FHIR.
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
