What it does
Kumbuka is a self-hostable MCP server that gives teams a shared, persistent memory store for AI assistants. It serves work-steering knowledge (decisions, conventions, constraints) over Streamable HTTP to any MCP-capable client, with a per-user private scope that is structurally inaccessible to admins.
- Store team conventions like naming rules or data type decisions so AI assistants apply them automatically without re-explanation each session.
- Give each team member a private memory scope for personal notes that no admin or shared view can access.
- Inject a typed digest of relevant rules into an assistant's context at the start of a session using a single tool call.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| memory_remember | Write or upsert a memory entry by key, specifying scope and type. |
| memory_recall | Read memory entries filtered by scope, type, or substring query. |
| memory_forget | Delete a memory entry by ID or by scope and key combination. |
| memory_scopes | List the scopes the authenticated caller is permitted to access. |
| memory_load_context | Return a typed, grouped digest of relevant memory entries ready for injection into an assistant's context. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
