What it does
FoJin is an MCP server that provides access to Buddhist canonical texts across 612 sources in multiple languages (Classical Chinese, Pali, Tibetan, Sanskrit). It enables AI assistants to answer questions about Buddhist texts with URN-cited passages, cross-canon parallels, and verifiable quotations from a corpus of 670K+ embedded passages.
- Query Buddhist canonical texts in plain language and receive cited answers with clickable source references that link to exact passages.
- Verify whether a Buddhist quotation is accurate and check if a citation points to the correct passage and juan (volume).
- Research complex multi-step questions about Buddhist doctrine by retrieving and synthesizing passages across different canons with dictionary and knowledge graph support.

Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
