What it does
MCP server providing plain-English query access to Australian Institute of Health and Welfare datasets: long-term mortality (GRIM), regional mortality (MORT), cancer incidence and mortality (ACIM), health expenditure, youth justice detention, and public hospitals register. For developers, analysts, and researchers working with Australian health statistics.
- Query historical mortality trends by cause, region, age group, and sex across decades of data.
- Retrieve current cancer incidence and mortality rates by cancer type and age band for epidemiological analysis.
- Look up health spending by state and funding source to compare government and non-government expenditure over time.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| search_datasets | Fuzzy-search the curated catalog of AIHW datasets by keyword. |
| describe_dataset | List filterable dimensions and returnable measures for a specified dataset. |
| get_data | Query a dataset with filters, measures, and optional period range; returns structured records. |
| latest | Return the most-recent observation per measure in a dataset. |
| top_n | Rank and return the top (or bottom) N rows by a specified measure. |
| list_curated | Enumerate all available curated dataset IDs. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
