What it does
This MCP server provides access to real-time and historical data from Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) via the AEMO NEMWEB feeds. It exposes 5-minute spot prices, regional demand, generation by fuel type, interconnector flows, and rooftop solar data, allowing LLMs and other MCP clients to answer questions about Australia's electricity market with current numbers.
- Query current or historical electricity spot prices by region to monitor market pricing or detect negative pricing events.
- Retrieve generation data by fuel type and region to analyze the energy mix and renewable penetration.
- Check interconnector flows between states to understand power transfers and transmission constraints.
Tools this server exposes
| Tool | Does |
|---|---|
| search_datasets | Fuzzy-search the 7 curated NEM datasets by name, topic, or region. |
| describe_dataset | Retrieve schema, filters, source URL, cadence, and example queries for a dataset. |
| get_data | Query data from a dataset with optional filters and date range, returning records, series, or CSV format. |
| latest | Fetch the most recent 5-minute or 30-minute interval for a time-series dataset. |
| list_curated | List the 7 curated dataset IDs available through the server. |
Before you enable it
An MCP server runs with whatever access you give it. Start with a development account rather than production, and check which tools the server exposes before you let an agent call them unattended.
